A Comprehensive Plan serves as a long-term guide for the future of Pequot Lakes. It reflects the community’s vision and helps guide decisions related to land use, housing, transportation, economic development, parks and recreation, public infrastructure, and the preservation of our natural resources and community character.

The plan is used by the City Council, Planning Commission, staff, property owners, and developers when considering future growth, development, and investment throughout the community.

Why Does the Comprehensive Plan Matter?

As Pequot Lakes grows and changes, thoughtful planning helps ensure that new opportunities are balanced with the qualities that make our community special. The Comprehensive Plan provides a framework for making consistent, informed decisions while remaining responsive to the needs of residents, businesses, and property owners.

It is a long-range vision and policy guide rather than a zoning ordinance. The City’s zoning regulations and other implementation tools help put that vision into practice over time.
