Street Policies & Winter Operations
The City of Pequot Lakes has established policies to help keep City streets safe, accessible, and well maintained throughout the year. Residents and property owners can help our Public Works crews by following the guidelines below.
❄️ Winter Parking Restrictions
November 1 – March 31
No parking on City streets between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.
Keeping vehicles off the streets during these hours allows Public Works crews to safely and efficiently remove snow and ice.
Vehicles parked in violation of the ordinance may be ticketed and/or removed, and the vehicle owner may be responsible for applicable towing and storage costs.

🚜 Snow & Ice Removal
The City provides snow and ice control on City streets to support safe travel and access for emergency services. During snow events, regular Public Works operations may be suspended while crews focus on priority snow and ice removal activities.
Residents can help crews work safely and efficiently by:
- Keeping vehicles, trailers, garbage and recycling containers, and other items out of the roadway.
- Observing winter parking restrictions.
- Giving snowplows plenty of room to operate.
- Not approaching or stopping plow operators while they are working. Questions or concerns should be directed to City Hall.

📬 Mailboxes & Snow Removal
Mailboxes located within the City right-of-way should be properly installed and maintained so they do not interfere with street maintenance and snow removal.
Before installing or replacing a mailbox, residents are encouraged to review the City's policy for placement, construction, maintenance, and responsibility for damage.
