City streets remain subject to their normal posted load limits.
Protecting Our City Streets
Seasonal road restrictions help protect Pequot Lakes streets from damage during times when road conditions make them especially vulnerable to heavy loads.
The City Council may establish temporary road restrictions and weight limitations on municipally owned and maintained streets due to spring thaw, weather conditions, deterioration, or other conditions that could result in roadway damage. Streets subject to restrictions will be posted with appropriate signage.
City Street Load Limits
Business/Industrial Park Streets: 10-ton load limit
All Other City Streets: 5-ton load limit
Unless otherwise posted.
Seasonal weight restrictions are typically implemented each spring as conditions warrant.
Why Are Spring Load Restrictions Necessary?
As frost leaves the ground in the spring, moisture can weaken the road base and make pavement more susceptible to damage from heavy vehicles. Temporary load restrictions help protect City infrastructure, reduce roadway damage, and extend the useful life of our streets.
